The "Fiscally Responsible" Kurt Daudt

The GOP rails about fiscal responsibility without any evidence that they know what that means.

Tax cuts for the wealthy does not lower the national debt. Sorry, it's math. And Trump officials use charter planes for state visits. Why?

But here in Minnesota is the dorkiest of all. Kurt Daudt made a big deal of withholding pay raises from the House - even after we had a state referendum that authorized a commission to do so. Just couldn't allow the thousands involved in that salary hike to well deserved legislators.

Then when Dayton line item vetos the legislature funding in an attempt to renegotiate some details without shutting down the government, Daudt turns around and sues the executive branch.

So both sides of the legislative divide - governor and legislature - have to hire expensive lawyers to take the matter to the Supreme Court.

And what's the remedy?

Mandatory mediation (which essentially means talking to each other) which ends up costing the state a paltry sum of $1,000 per hour.

Thanks Daudt. Well thought out.

Maybe if you are litigation happy it should come out of your own pocket.
